Mentoring is taken seriously at Greenwood. We are a school built on character and community and we want our new staff to be welcomed and valued.
Supporting Our Mentees
For our mentees, we take time to listen and get to know the new members of our community. We also welcome back members who have been away on leave and ensure they are feeling supported. Additionally, for our mentees we:
  • Offer On Boarding in June and August
  • Plan for group meetings with new staff throughout the year
  • Plan scheduled times for mentees to meet with their mentor and also for mentors and mentees to meet informally

Supporting Our Mentors

For our mentors, we build a team of members who support each other as well as their mentees. We also engage mentors in contributing to the plan for transitioning those who were on leave and welcoming new members to our community. Additionally, for our mentors we:
  • Provide training in caring communities
  • Provide training in solution-focused conversations
"The mentor program helps to create distinguished leaders within the school and inspires all teachers to do more and learn in this profession. It allows you to re-examine your teaching style and ultimately fine-tune those skills to become better each and every day." - Stephanie Pasut, Mentor
