Greenwood Teachers Headed to Klingenstein Summer Institute
Allan Hardy, Principal
For this reason, I was delighted to learn this week that two of our teachers, Stephanie Martino and Kelly Smolinski, have been selected to attend the Klingenstein Summer Institute for Early Career Teachers. This two-week program run by the Teachers College Columbia University brings together 75 teachers from independent schools around the world and offers them an intense opportunity to explore teaching styles and educational philosophy. As an alumnus of the Klingenstein Heads of School Program, I know this experience is a great way for teachers to network and return to their home schools with a new level of confidence and ideas.
Entry to this prestigious program is competitive and though several of our teachers are alumni of the program, having two teachers attend in the same cohort is a first for Greenwood. I believe it is one example of the high level of teaching talent that is exhibited daily here at the school. Like most of our teachers, Stephanie and Kelly joined Greenwood directly after graduation from a teacher education program. During their five years at Greenwood, they have had numerous opportunities to further their professional growth, which was reflected in the strength of their successful Klingenstein application. Congratulations Stephanie and Kelly!
