A Spring Garden Formal

Erin Taylor, Communications Officer
Greenwood’s Spring Formal was a night to remember! On May 4, the Social Affairs Committee turned the York Mills Gallery into a magical spring garden.

200 students, including guests from other schools, waited in the cocktail area at the beginning of the night, until the curtains were drawn back to reveal the main space. In keeping with the spring garden theme, fairy lights, light-up trees and candles lit the space and created a enchanting atmosphere. Large garden lanterns with floral arrangements made for gorgeous centrepieces on each table.

Besides dancing and dinner, there was a photobooth and portrait area, where students could get some silly snaps and keepsake pictures.

The York Mills Gallery did not disappoint with the atmosphere or food and the DJ kept everyone dancing between courses. A big thank you to the Social Affairs Committee, in particular the executives Jade Serruya, Rachel Lancaster and Lauren Howling, for all their work in organizing this event.

We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and as settlers, we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
