A Fresh Start

Erin Taylor, Communications Officer
Each new week is a fresh start. In assembly today, Ms. Sarah Bruce took a moment and asked students to reflect on their experiences last week. They thought about what went well, and what things they would have done differently.

When reflecting on things that perhaps didn’t go so well, Ms. Bruce encouraged students to see those moments as opportunities for learning; this week, they’ve got a chance to take a new approach.

Ms. Bruce closed her address with a quick note on road safety, an area she said she would like to see students approach differently. With a clip from Canada’s Worst Driver, she reminded students to be careful as they cross at the intersection and the school’s driveway.

We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and as settlers, we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
