Greenwood Mic Finale

Twelve talented Greenwood students gave it their all at our final Greenwood Mic of the year on Friday, May 10.

Colette Pitts ‘22 started us off with the song “Sunflower” by Rex Orange County. Her beautiful voice had the audience smiling and everyone was cheering her on throughout. Following this performance, Ella Usher-Jones ‘24 sang “Good Morning Baltimore” from the hit film Hairspray. Not only was she singing her heart out, she was dancing to the beat and the whole crowd loved it!

We had many other great performances including one by Violet Bryce ‘24 and Evie Ohlson ‘24 who sang “Lost Boy” by Ruth B. We also had Cole Perelmuter ‘20 who performed a compilation of theme songs from kids’ shows, including Johnny Test, Fairly Odd Parents, Scooby Doo, 6teen and Phineas and Ferb.

Sydney Smith ‘22, Hannah Hutzul ‘22 and Makenna Lacy ‘22 changed things up with a poem using catchphrases from famous original Vines which had the whole audience laughing.

Following the group of three, Madison Gordon ‘20, Ellie Selbiger-Davidson ‘20 and Aaron Burlacoff ‘20 performed the song “Home” by Phillip Phillips with Aaron on guitar.

Next up was Mr. Wright on the fiddle accompanied by Cole Perelmuter ‘20 on guitar. They played “Whiskey in the Jar” by The Dubliners and had everyone singing along and stomping their feet.

To close off our final Greenwood Mic of the year, Head GirlRachel Keaveney ‘19 gave a wonderful performance of the song “Believing” from the television show Nashville.

To perform in front of hundreds of people takes a lot of courage, confidence and talent, so kudos to all those who performed throughout the year. Everyone rocked it!

We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and as settlers, we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
