Leaving Class Ceremony 2019

After a great morning of celebrating the 2018-2019 school year, the families of the Class of 2019 returned to the John Bassett Theatre to watch the 2019 Leaving Class Ceremony.

As the grads put on their gowns and adjusted their caps, they were hugging each other and singing before starting the procession. After taking their seats in the theatre, each grad stood on stage as a teacher talked about their journey at Greenwood and reflected on fond memories with them. Everyone learned about their future plans and the path they were taking as Greenwood alumni.

There were incredible musical performances by Katie Carter, Sebastian Dal Bello and Ailis McKeag. Our Valedictorian, Charlotte Keating, gave a great speech about her time at Greenwood and wished her classmates good luck for the future.

A number of awards were also presented including the Scott Taber Award, which was given after a beautiful speech from Grad Affairs Executives Michael Carswell Mahcupyan and Jonelle Grossman, to commemorate the passing of Scott Taber, who would have graduated this year.

The list of award winners can be found here.

Though the Class of 2019 will be missed greatly, we look forward to seeing what they will accomplish next. Congratulations to our grads and we wish you the best of luck in your future endeavours. Stay in touch!

We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and as settlers, we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
