Honouring Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope

Greenwood is always proud to support The Terry Fox Foundation and its ongoing work to fund innovative and progressive cancer research programs.

On Friday, October 4, students and staff participated in our annual Terry Fox Run to honour Terry’s Marathon of Hope, as well as those affected by cancer.

The morning of the run, House captains greeted students and staff at the front doors with buckets for Toonies for Terry. Houses earned points for school spirit, colourful outfits and donations. Our toonie donations as well as our online donations are currently being tallied, so stay tuned for the final results!

When it came to the run, everyone was full of energy and enthusiasm. Students walked, ran and even sprinted the entire course. As they crossed the finish line, House captains were waving their flags and cheering them on. Finishers also got to enjoy a victory freezie to celebrate their commitment. Overall, it was a fantastic day!

Thank you to everyone who donated and participated in the run. Your efforts will impact the lives of many people living with cancer.

We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and as settlers, we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
