Good morning Greenwood and welcome to week two of online learning!

First, I would like to say congratulations to all staff and students for completing your first week of online learning. It is remarkable that we managed to pull that off together, all of us, including parents, staff and students.

In week two, you will have noticed in our Week @ A Glance that we are asking people to go for a walk in the woods. I am out here on my walk in the woods, one of my favourite places to be, and I feel better already. One thing I notice while I’m here is that nature doesn’t really notice the coronavirus and things remain the same. The flowers are going to bloom, Spring is just around the corner and taking a walk in the woods is a remarkable way to feel better. I encourage you to get outside and send us a video of your walk in the woods, all while practising social distancing and doing everything we are recommended to do to stop the spread of the virus.

Also this week it is Women’s Week, an important event we have had planned for some time to recognize Women’s Day that takes place internationally on March 8. I am thrilled today to welcome Bayla Appleby’s mom, who will be speaking to you shortly about women in STEM. Thank you, Dr. Shayna Rosenbaum - we look forward to hearing what you have to say. 

There have been some remarkable women in the news lately. I have noticed how many women are involved as health ministers and are taking action against COVID-19. I think Canada is doing an incredible job to stop the spread, and maybe it has something to do with the fact that men and women are working together. As a principal of a co-ed school, it’s paramount to me that all genders work together.

Please do your very best this week and hang in there. I know being home can pose many challenges. Keep reaching out to one another on social media and please keep asking for help when you need it and offering help when you can give it.
