Welcome Back Greenwood!

It has been a long and strange six months, but we are thrilled to welcome back both new and returning students and staff into the building! We hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable summer and that you are ready to take on another exciting school year.

The first week of school was Registration Week for all of our students. After they were welcomed by our Grizzly mascot in the morning, they had the opportunity to meet with their Advisers and other students in their cohort group. They took tours of the school to learn about the new safety measures in place and meet our new school nurse, Ms. Dawson.

Students and staff have been participating in a mix of both online and in-person learning. Classes have been making great use of the outdoor space at school, specifically our terrace, where they can do their work or socialize with their friends while getting fresh air. Ms. Borden’s Grade 9 French students enjoyed class on the terrace, while Ms. Richard’s Grade 8 CSS and English students took their class to the green space across from the school to play a game and take a mask break.

It has been a great two weeks seeing our lively community back in action at the school. Although the safety practices may take some getting used to, our students and staff have been doing a great job at following the new protocols.

We are looking forward to another wonderful year!

We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and as settlers, we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
