Commemorating Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope

“Even if I don’t finish, we need others to continue. It’s got to keep going.” - Terry Fox

Dressed in House colours, Greenwood families took to the streets on October 7 to raise awareness in their local neighbourhood in commemoration of Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope. Over 600 people participated in the run and many shared their experiences on the House Committee’s Instagram account @gschouse

During the week leading up to the Terry Fox Run, Greenwood House Execs hosted a Toonies for Terry event in the Lodge. This event was a friendly competition to see which House would raise the most money in support of the Terry Fox Foundation. In total, the Greenwood community raised nearly $1,000 through the Toonies for Terry event as well as over $5,500 in online donations.

Latimer took first place for raising the most money, showing off House spirit and having the longest distance walked. Following closely behind was Nahanni in second place and Fraser in third place.

Thank you to everyone who donated and participated in this important event. We greatly appreciate all of your efforts!

We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and as settlers, we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
