Walk to School Day

The Environmental Committee’s biggest goal this year is to continue the momentum of their Greenest @ Greenwood competitions. These competitions involve a variety of environmentally conscious activities where students can gain House points for being more green at Greenwood.

On October 14 and 15, 120 students and staff participated in Walk to School Day. This initiative encouraged the Greenwood community to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to be more conscious about their ecological footprint. It was also a great way to promote physical activity and a fun opportunity for students to earn House points.

The two students who walked the furthest were Bella Clyde ‘21, who came all the way from High Park, and Abbey Holeman ‘21, who walked from the Beaches. Bella and Abbey earned some serious points for Nahanni and Latimer!

Another goal the Environmental Committee has for this year is to educate the Greenwood community on how to stay sustainable during the pandemic. They are currently working on ways they can promote safety and sustainability both at the school and at home.

We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and as settlers, we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
