A Virtual Case Competition Success

Greenwood Business students had the chance to participate in another virtual 24-hour case competition on Thursday, May 6. Over 35 students in Grades 10 to 12 took on this challenge. 

 

After an intense day of preparation, these students presented their solutions to virtual panels of guest judges from the local community.

 

Students received an Ivey School of Business case and had only 24 hours to crack the case and prepare formal presentations with their solutions. On Tuesday afternoon, each group presented their case to a panel of judges composed of local business people, Greenwood alumni and staff. 

 

This semester's case study was about Urban Axes, a thriving female-led axe throwing start-up in Philadelphia looking for ways to leverage its early success into future growth. 

 

Our newly crowned case competition champions were Noah Burlacoff ‘22, Sam Collibee ‘22, Kristina Désormeaux ‘22, and Hannah Hutzul ‘22. They impressed the judges with their creative idea for Urban Axes to build a mobile axe throwing truck to earn revenue while scouting for new potential geographic markets.

We would also like to give an honourable mention to our runners up: Kate Morris ‘21, Maya Oberai ‘21, and Olivia Shewfelt ‘21. In addition to nearly becoming back-to-back case champions, these three grads have consistently achieved success and accolades over the years in other business extracurriculars including DECA and Junior Achievement entrepreneurship programs. We know that their talent and drive will take them to great places.
