A Return to the Outdoors

If you talk to our alumni, many will tell you their fondest Greenwood memories were made on Outdoor Education trips. After a lengthy hiatus due to COVID-19, we were thrilled to load our Grade 11s onto buses on Monday morning for their Fall OE experience.

At Kilcoo Camp, Grade 11 students had valuable opportunities to build community, develop their leadership and communication skills, and spend time with peers from their grade. They pushed themselves out of their comfort zones with a ropes course, tested their aim with archery, and honed their outdoor survival skills with fire building. Surrounded by fresh air and forests, they forged and renewed bonds with their classmates and Greenwood staff that they will continue to stregthen over the year.

We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and as settlers, we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
