Duke of Edinburgh's Awards

Trevor Findlay, Teacher, English, History & Social Sciences
On Wednesday, December 8th, Greenwood celebrated the achievements of 12 students as part of the Duke of Edinburgh's programs. Carson Blackwell ‘24, Katelyn Budd ‘23, Amy Maisel ‘23, Lauren Maniglio ‘22, Alexa Kay ‘22, Madi Reid ‘22, Mira Seagram ‘22, and Tavish Wilkin ‘24 received their Bronze Award. Maurya Shah ‘22, Leila Shapiro ‘22, Tessa Palmert ‘22, and Pippa Bridges ‘22 received their Silver award.

Greenwood is incredibly proud of all award recipients, especially since these students persevered through the pandemic in order to achieve their goals. As a result of program closures, many students opted to schedule their own adventurous journeys as well as volunteer activities. A number of students also met their Silver requirement as part of Greenwood’s Silver Virtual Adventurous Journey in the spring. Congratulations to all award recipients!

We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and as settlers, we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
