Celebrating the Arts

Arts Week is Greenwood’s annual celebration of the arts. The Arts Committee organized many activities through the week to give the community opportunities to express their creativity. The Lodge was filled with music during the mornings while students and staff tried out many Arts Everywhere! activities such as finger painting, button making, scratch art and Japanese blossom art.

During Thursday’s Community Time, the Arts Committee execs, Rhiannon O’Brien ‘23 and Sydney Peel ‘23, hosted the final Greenwood Mic for the 2022–2023 school year. Students and staff proudly showcased their passion and skill in music (and in making dad jokes) in front of the crowd. To conclude the Greenwood Mic, Rhiannon and Sydney ‘crowned’ Fin Burke ‘24 and Lilly Vescio ‘24 as the new Arts Committee execs for the next school year.

Arts Week culminated in the Arts Everywhere! evening showcase on May 18 which featured art created by students from all grades. Visual artworks lined the Lodge and the displays continued through to outside the Learning Commons. Many of the photography and media art pieces were displayed in Room 174, where visitors could also sit and take part in some Arts Everywhere! activities. Senior drama students performed their site-specific play where different storylines unfolded as the attendees followed the actors to different parts of the school. Guests were also treated to a fantastic musical and vocal performance in the Theatre and also a special Greenwood Mic performance in the Lodge.
