Although this is a recurring celebration over the last 100+ years, International Women's Day seems more vital this year. It is a day that reminds the world that women are important and celebrates female achievements. On March 3, young women across Toronto recognized the obstacles that continue to impact the lives of young girls and women every day, from political to social to economic. However, these challenges only motivate today’s generation of young and inspired women to call for change. One speaker touched on the idea of speaking up for those who can't speak for themselves, as it is time to put an end to staying silent about women's rights. Both boys and girls need to raise their voices in the fight for equality.

Olivia Crichton

Conversation that empowers all genders and encourages open opinions and feelings allow the most change to occur. Allowing open conversation helps break down gender barries and helps everyone to understand various perspectives.

Addie Naprawa

It was great to hear from a collection of women who had found success at all ages. They proved that by men and women working together, amazing things can be accomplished.

We celebrate International Women’s Day on Wednesday, March 8. On this day, and every day, please open the conversation on gender equality.

We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
