Rugby 7s Teams Built Team Spirit at CAIS Rugby Tournament
This was a great experience for both players and coaches, as they built exceptional team spirit together through their travels and competition.
Saturday and Sunday’s games were held at Ashbury College, while the first two days of the tournament took place at Carleton University. Though it averaged about 13°C in Ottawa, things heated up fast on the rugby pitch.
It was an exciting tournament to watch. The boys went 2-1 in their pool, finishing 2nd, and went on to beat Holy Trinity School in the quarters. It was a close game in the semis, but Greenwood lost to Bishop’s College School. The girls went 2-2 in their pool, finishing 3rd. They advanced directly to the semis, but a depleted team lost to St. Michael’s University School.
Despite not making the finals, boys and girls teams had a very exciting tournament. Their efforts playing together gave them the opportunity to gel before the start of the regular season, and to reaffirm the value of team spirit.
We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
