Student Awards Assembly 2016-2017

We celebrated the Arts, Student Growth, Spirit of Adventure, and Leader by Example winners.

Mr. Hardy opened the assembly with a quote: “There’s no elevator to success. You have to take the stairs.” He also expressed that success requires hard work and that there is no easy way to “grow”.

That resonated with the award recipients, as what they achieved this year came with hard work. They demonstrated their growth by taking on challenging opportunities such as developing new learning strategies, participating in the school plays, venturing outdoors or team building on a committee. Each persevered inside and outside of the classroom and as a result, made a great contribution to the community.

More awards (including four major Character Awards) will be given out at Greenwood Celebration Day on Friday, June 16 at the Toronto Centre for the Arts. We look forward to seeing students and parents there.

We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
