Grade 11 Leadership Day

On Wednesday, June 14, Grade 11 spent the day together preparing for their final year at Greenwood. Leadership Day is a tradition to help the group strategize for the coming year and make the most of the leadership opportunities they’ll have in Grade 12. It will be an exciting year, and the Class of 2018 is determined to make the most of it.

This year’s Leadership Day faced some complications right from the start, when the usual meeting place on Toronto Island was unavailable due to flooding. Nevertheless, a new venue was secured and the Grade 11 class managed to get quite a bit of work done in preparation for next year. They came up with lots of ideas together as a grade and spent some time doing activities to strengthen their bond as a group.

Laura Gordon-Mitchell ('18) reports that there are lots of exciting plans in the works. One of the key goals for leaders next year will be engaging with students in the younger grades and helping ensure that new students feel completely comfortable and welcome at Greenwood. It appears Leadership Day was a success in spite of the venue change, and we are eager to see what the Class of 2018 has in store for Greenwood.

We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
