Holocaust Education Week

Ms. Bohm was born in Romania, but in 1944 she and her family were transported to Auschwitz-Birkenau in Nazi-occupied Poland. Ms. Bohm’s story was truly moving and a number of students asked insightful questions at the conclusion of her presentation. Her message on the enduring importance of commemoration and remembrance will stay with us all.

On Thursday, November 9th, Greenwood will host its annual Remembrance Day Assembly. Many students are involved in the ceremony, making this a community led occasion to ensure that the memory of all those who served in Canada’s Armed Forces is not forgotten.

Greenwood’s choir will be contributing moving renditions of Hallelujah and Northwest Passage. Further, a representative of Canada’s Army Reserves, Major Adam Saunders,
Deputy Commanding Officer of the Royal Regiment of Canada, will be delivering an insightful talk on the value of life and the importance of remembrance.

We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
