Athletes in Snowboarding, Alpine Skiing, and Swimming may compete alone, but they’ve got a strong team behind them. After their strong showing at CISAA, a number of Greenwood students qualified for OFSAA. In a non-competitive environment, Greenwood’s dance team has worked hard this season as well.
In Alpine Skiing, Montana Danis came 20th in Slalom, and 15th in Giant Slalom. Tom Witham did not finish Slalom and came 12th in Giant Slalom.
Of the three girls who qualified for OFSAA in Swimming, Stanca Radulescu & Mara Baker were able to attend. Stanca competed in the 100m freestyle. Mara completed in the 50m freestyle and 50m back-crawl.
Snowboarding
The Snowboarding team had a strong presence at OFSAA, with 11 Greenwood students qualifying for the competition. They competed against the top athletes from over 20 other schools.
The Girls team came in 6th place overall, with great performances by the individual team members. Sydney Acton came in 10th in her race.
The Boys team also had a strong showing, coming in 5th overall. Jack Ciotlos came in 11th, and Connor Ciotlos placed 18th, out of over 150 other competitors.
Dance
Greenwood’s dance team has been expanding their skillset this season. They participated in a full day of workshops and performances at CiS Dance Fest 2018. They are already preparing their performance for the Spring Arts Showcase.
We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
