A Record Crowd at Grandfriends’ Day

Erin Taylor, Communications Officer
This year, we celebrated our largest Grandfriends Day yet! We had over 225 grandfriends join us at the school over breakfast for a morning of music, videos, and school tours.

Student volunteers helped guide visitors up to the gym, where their grandchildren met them and they settled in for the presentations. Principal Allan Hardy opened the morning, and then the Masters of Ceremony — Liam and Liv — took over. We had excellent musical performances by the choir, senior vocal class, stage band, and a duet sung by Ellie Selbiger-Davidson and Hannah Grosman.

Mr. Lougheed closed the assembly, thanking the audience for their continued support of Greenwood.

Then, students took their grandfriends on a personal tour of the school, showing off their classrooms and lockers.

Thank you to all the parents and grandfriends who joined us for Grandfriends Day!

We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
