Grade 7 Students Dive Into a Forest of Reading

Over the course of the school year, a small but dedicated group of Grade 7 students have been participating in the Forest of Reading Red Maple program. The Forest of Reading is run by the Ontario Library Association and promotes books written by Canadian authors. This year, students in the Red Maple program had twenty books to choose from: 10 fiction and 10 non-fiction.

Throughout the school year, students read several books from whichever list interested them the most. In order to vote for a winning book, students had to read at least five books in the same category. On voting day, everyone got together to chat about the books they read, eat pizza, and vote!

They had so much fun and look forward to an even larger group of students joining them in the program next year!
