Our Grade 10 Media Arts students are getting extra creative these days! Over the past couple of months they have learned how to use Adobe Illustrator and have been designing unique digital illustrations.
They started learning the ins and outs of Adobe Illustrator before the March Break and have continued to expand their knowledge through the transition to online learning. They have a variety of resources to help them navigate this software such as watching video tutorials, completing written tutorials, or meeting up with their teacher, Ms. Liburd, in Google Meets where she can share her screen and teach them directly.
For their first project, they were tasked with creating an original, detailed illustration of an original animated character. The character had to have a clear theme and identity, as well as one prop. From a guitar-playing robot to spaceman server, the students were very creative with their illustrations!
Once they completed their character, they moved onto their second project: designing a food truck. They had to come up with a specific type of cuisine, create a restaurant logo and design a unique exterior for their truck. Ranging from steamy dumplings to wacky waffles, there were a variety of delicious looking trucks!
We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
