Who would have thought the game dominoes would have such a big impact in the Greenwood community! From Spirit Week competitions to one student's love of dominoes, there’s no doubt that this game has played a unique role at Greenwood.
During Spirit Week 2021, the Greenwood community was encouraged to bring in boxes of cereal to donate to Daily Bread Food Bank. Daily Bread supplies food to nearly 200 food programs across Toronto and has become a key leader on issues relating to hunger and income security.
Greenwood added a friendly competition to Spirit Week and awarded participants with spirit points for bringing in cereal boxes. By the end of the week, over 300 cereal boxes were donated by students and staff!
How does this have to do with dominoes, you ask? On Thursday, March 11 at lunch, students celebrated the incredible number of donations with a big domino line of the cereal boxes in the Lodge. If you weren’t there to celebrate in person, you were also able to watch a live stream of the domino line fall. It was a lot of fun and a great way to support Daily Bread.
Our love for dominoes doesn't stop there! Grade 7 student Mason Kohler is a big fan of the domino effect. Creating domino lines is one of his favourite hobbies and Greenwood was lucky enough to have Mason create a special one just for our community.
