Annually, Greenwood hosts a Celebr8 event to congratulate our Grade 8s as they move onwards to high school. On Tuesday, June 13, we celebrated our Grade 8s as they finished the year and looked forward to their next milestone as Grade 9s in the upcoming fall. Following addresses from Ms. Bruce, Ms. Watson and the Heads of Student Leadership, Ellie Deegan ‘23 and Curtis Li ‘23, in Greenwood’s theatre, the students gathered for a photo opportunity and tossed their caps inside. The Grade 8s then moved outside with their caps to pose for photos and videos as they ‘graduated’ to a new chapter in their schooling careers.
Tuesday also marked a day of fun for the Grade 7s as they spent their afternoon having fun at Sky Zone. With plenty of celebration and excitement, our Grade 7s and 8s capped off their school year.
We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and as settlers, we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
