Students' arts contributions in the spotlight

Artist Spotlights celebrate the talented artists we have at Greenwood; students are nominated by their peers and teachers for their talent & outstanding contributions to the arts at Greenwood this year.

Congratulations to these recipients:

Micah Starkman ‘29

Micah is a fun and energetic addition to the senior guitar club. He has the talent and ability to play with the seniors and really set the beat. He puts in lots of effort to make sure he's ready and shows up when needed. During Grandfriends Day, Micah rose to the challenge and filled in for a peer on drums. Micah’s effort and positivity is truly appreciated.

Carter Goldblatt ‘26

Carter has taken on a big leadership role, helping to run the backstage of our Greenwood productions. He has built a great community backstage through his leadership, and is integral to the Arts Community! Carter has planned and organized making crochet stuffies for the Light Up Squad (Seniors with Dementia) as a community Arts Outreach initiative.

Kalina Mehta ‘25

Kalina works hard to manage sound and lighting for many events such as Greenwood Mic, plays and musicals. Kalina is a forward-thinking member of the Drama team. She is solution-focused, and has the perfect demeanor for diffusing issues. She is dedicated. She arrives early, and ensures everything looks great on stage.

Kobi Cheng ‘25

Kobi has put in a lot of effort to develop an artistic style that’s totally his own. Over the past year, he’s focused on studying hand anatomy and has worked it into many of his pieces. His final artwork of the year bursts with colour and showcases a mix of styles and mediums.  Kobi also has been an integral part of the backstage crew for productions. He is always available to lend a hand wherever needed, and is so patient. We truly couldn't do it without him!

We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
