Greenwood alumni, parents, past parents, friends and staff teed off last week at the Greenwood Community Golf Tournament at Angus Glen.
It was a gorgeous afternoon for 18 holes – participants warmed up at the driving range and then hit the south course for the scramble-style tournament. Afterwards, everyone gathered in the clubhouse to exchange stories and try their luck at generously donated door prizes at the reception.
The event was in support of a new Athletics Endowment. More than $11,000 was raised toward the fund.
“Thank you for being here today to support the Athletics Endowment, which will help support our programming in years to come,” said Heather Thomas, Principal. “More than 80 per cent of Greenwood students participate in Athletics. And it’s on the field, the ice or the court, or in the pool or on the slopes that our students develop leadership, collaboration skills, responsibility and commitment that they take with them after Greenwood.”
Sheila Allen, director of Athletics, said it’s often through Athletics that students find who they are, and how strong they can be.
“The impacts and benefits of sport are significant and can be seen everyday, beyond students’ time at Greenwood,” she said.
