Greenwood’s snowboarding team capped off a strong season with several medals and three OFSAA qualifications at the CISAA Snowboarding Championships.
Our snowboarders had a great day on the slopes on February 8, capturing five top-2 finishes.
In Giant Slalom, Hannah Hutzul (‘22) and Ben Laco (‘21) both took gold in the U14 division, while Jack Ciotlos (‘19) captured silver in U16. Nicole Clyde (‘18) and Charlotte Keating (‘19) went 1-2 in the L2 division.
Jack Ciotlos found the podium again in the Slope Style competition with another silver-medal finish.
Based on their strong overall seasons, our Boys’ Snowboarding team, along with Nicole Clyde and Charlotte Keating, also qualified to represent Greenwood at the OFSAA Snowboarding Festival on March 2.
While the regular seasons for Giant Slalom and Slope Style have wrapped up, there’s more action to come! Boarder Cross kicks off tomorrow, February 15 at the Craigleith Ski Club. Stay tuned for more news and results!
We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
