Strong Championship Performance for Senior Swim Team

Kate Raven
The team capped off a very strong season with many outstanding performances at the University of Toronto Athletic Centre.

Robin Ahmed (‘17) led the team with three medals, including gold in the U20 50m Backstroke and bronzes in the U20 50m Butterfly and U20 200m Medley Relay. Mara Baker (‘20) found the podium twice, with a silver in the U20 50m Backstroke and bronze in the U20 200m Medley Relay.

Olivia Burdett (‘17) not only claimed silver in the Open 200m Freestyle event, but qualified to represent Greenwood at the OFSAA Swimming Championships from March 7-8 in Windsor. Her time of 2:20.13 made her one of only two racers in the event to advance to the provincial championships. Mara Baker also swam an OFSAA-qualifying time of 37.62 in the U16 50m Back.

Matt Sargeant (‘17) swam to silver in the U20 50m Backstroke, and our U20 Girls’ Medley Relay Team of Robin, Mara, Sadie Houston (‘18) and Sarah Scott (‘18) took bronze.

We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
