Playing Like the Pros at the ACC

Greenwood’s D1B rivals, Royal St. George’s College, extended this special invitation to the school. Both teams made the most of the opportunity to play on the same court as the Toronto Raptors; coaches ensured that all players got in the game, and the boys tried moves and shots that they may not have attempted in a regular league game.

Grade 11 and 12 students were given the chance to make a $5 donation in exchange for the chance to attend the game and cheer on their classmates. These donations will be used to purchase sports equipment for Nelson Mandela Park Public School, one of Greenwood’s service learning partner schools. Three buses full of fans decked out in green and white made the trip to the ACC, and they made their (supportive!) voices heard throughout the game. We also had a number of Greenwood parents join us to cheer on the boys.

Above all, this game was a friendly match, and both Greenwood and RSGC clearly had a blast!

We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
