Michael Phillips (‘16) Wins Undergraduate Case Competition

The competition, started in 2015 by the University of Guelph, asks undergraduate students to create a development plan for a large, iconic site from the current real estate market. This year, participants were challenged to create a redevelopment plan along with a bid price for 2280 Dundas Street West in Toronto. Groups had two months to work through a comprehensive development that must incorporate legal, physical, and financial analysis as well as creativity. Participating schools this year included the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the University of Connecticut, Rotman Commerce and the Schulich School of Business

After each of the 11 competing teams made an initial presentation to the judges, the top four teams advanced to the final round in front of the senior executive judges. Michael’s team ultimately came out on top, winning a cash prize of $10,000 to share between the four team members.

Michael took a strong background in business and case competitions with him to Queen’s. In addition to taking challenging business courses at Greenwood, Michael competed with the school’s DECA team and ran the Investment Club in his graduating year.

Congratulations, Michael!

We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
