Greenwood Athletics Awards 2016-2017

It was a well-attended event with more than 100 students and staff on hand to celebrate the school’s top athletes.

The athletic banquet showcased highlights from each athletic season (Fall, Winter and Spring) and games and giveaways were always enjoyed by all attendees.
The high point of the evening was the awards presentation. Awards were given for the 2016-2017 Athletes of the Year for U14, Junior and Senior. MVP and Coach’s Awards were also given for each team. The Athletes of the Year recognized not only for their outstanding athletic achievement, but also of sportsmanship in the classroom and in the halls.

We also honoured three recipients of the Colin Hood Award. This award is given out annually to one graduating male and one graduating female in every school in the province as well as coaches.   The Colin Hood Award winners have been committed to the success of school sport at their school and within their Association.

Elanna Robson was given the award for her outstanding achievement as a coach.
Athlete of the Year was a family event this year, as all three members of the Palmert family earned this award for their division.

We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
