Annual Terry Fox Run a Big Success

The annual Terry Fox Run was a fabulous success this year. The weather was great, the costumes were elaborate and the enthusiasm was palpable. This was the first major house event of the year, and our house captains had clearly been looking forward to it: they began the day on October 6 collecting donations in the lobby, starting the day off with an energy level that stayed high until the race. Click here to see a video of our pre-run house rally.

The race itself was staggered by grade level, allowing the older grade captains to finish their runs before greeting the younger runners at the finish line. It was a heartwarming sight to see how encouraging our older students are - cheering on runners regardless of house or speed, encouraging all students to strive for their best.

Donations for the Terry Fox Foundation are still being collected, and the total house points earned will be announced at assembly on Monday, October 16. Congratulations to the house captains for infusing this year’s run with such great spirit.

We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
