OE Photo Contest Winner Announced

At assembly on October 16, the winner and runners up of the OE photo contest were announced. Liam Seagram (‘20) was awarded the big prize for the spectacular photo he took at Camp Temagami of an evergreen surrounded by morning mist.

One thing we all take for granted is the beauty of the Canadian landscape surrounding us. At Greenwood we have always emphasized the many benefits of spending time in this wilderness, not the least of which is the opportunity to marvel at our natural vistas, and consider how lucky we are to call Canada our home. This photo contest is just one of the many ways that we encourage students to stop and witness the splendour surrounding them.

Congratulations to Liam, and to the runners up, whose photos will be displayed on the school’s TV screens throughout the week.

We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
