Halloween 2017

The Roundtable's haunted wedding-themed decoration of the stage in the Lodge was outstanding and set the tone for the remainder of our activities throughout the week. The House Captains planned a series of challenges during the week leading up to Halloween, as well as on the 31st. Teachers donned a witch costume and had pictures of their disguises posted in the Lodge for students to guess "Which Witch is Which?" for house points.

The Student Council hid 240 paper pumpkins throughout the building for the Halloween Scavenger Hunt which also resulted in students earning spirit points for their house. On Halloween the Grad Exec council planned a haunted hallway in the basement of the school, there was a costume photo booth in the media lab, and the House Captains facilitated the decoration of haunted gingerbread houses in the Lodge at lunch.

As always, the highlight of Halloween were the costumes. From students to teachers, everyone had a a great time showcasing their creativity and school spirit. Most notably were the winners of the Roundtable's costume contest:
  • Liam Pearl (Nahanni) came first overall in the favourite category for his homemade Landstrider costume
  • Dexter Oldland (Churchill) went as Gandolf the White and won for best character
  • Kaitlyn Chalmers (Churchill) was a "Cat Lady" which took first place in the funniest costume category
  • Ms. Della-Mora (Churchill) won for the best teacher costume for her rendition of the Wicked Witch of the West
Special mention must be given to all of the students and teachers who coordinated and created group costumes; in particular, the Grade 12 wardens and prisoners, the Grade 11 "tourists", the Phys Ed department's Foosball players and the Math department's "Noah's Arc-Tangent", complete with Ark!

Thank you to everyone, especially our parent volunteers, for making this our most successful Halloween to date!

We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
