Greenwood’s Eco TO-GO Program Launch

Students are able to enjoy their food in a reusable green container. Christilyn and her staff made it happen by hand-cutting, and laminating each Eco Exchange card. On launch day, the staff were all well trained on the program and were able to educate the students on how the program worked. Everything came together when we setup our Eco TO-GO informational booth where we displayed the green containers, messaging on how the program works and environment facts about waste.

Christilyn also connected with the Environmental Committee and had the students join us at our booth. Having the Environmental Committee’s participation was impactful where they were able to share the importance of reducing waste to their fellow peers.

By the end of the day, we served over 10 meals in the Green containers which meant that we prevented 10 disposable containers from going to the landfill. We have committed to have our Eco TO-GO information booth setup for an entire month as a way of building environmental awareness within the school.

We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
