Junior Ultimate Frisbee Team Wins Senior Tournament

Erin Taylor, Communications Officer
The Junior Ultimate Frisbee team kicked off their season with a highly successful  tournament, playing hard against other schools’ senior teams.

They started with a round robin of four games. They won every game! It was a very exciting achievement for the team, and got them pumped up for the rest of the tournament.

As they continued in the competition, they focused on tightening their defense. They moved on to the semi-finals where they played against Birchmount Collegiate. The game got off to a rocky start for Greenwood, but they managed to pull themselves back together and play as a team, earning a close win and a place in the finals.

For the finals, they played against Bayview Secondary, a team they had already beaten in the round robin. They were able to keep their energy going and earn another win, sweeping the tournament!

A special shout out to the team’s four female players, who only had one sub for each of the games.

We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
