Greenwood Mic: Standup and Sing-alongs

Erin Taylor, Communications Officer
Like any great finale, the last Greenwood Mic of the school year was the liveliest and most fun yet!

On May 4, eight different acts took to the stage, bringing their best stand up, dance, and musical performances.

Luke Farwell started off the coffee house with his signature stand up. Next, Bayla Appleby performed a tap dance to “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.”

Hannah Grosman and Ellie Davidson sang “Flight,” the beautiful duet that they performed at Grandfriends Day. JJ Fisman-Guarascio and Cole Perelmuter brought the energy in the room up with Avril Lavigne’s 2002 hit “Sk8r Boi.” More than one section of the bleachers started dancing.

Mr. Wright and Mr. Morrisson kept the energy going and got the crowd warmed up to sing, playing “Country Roads” by John Denver. The audience picked up on the lyrics quickly and joined in for each chorus.

Molly Trachuk and Rachel Keaveney took over with Ed Sheeran’s “Photograph,” and Zach Paton followed up with Passenger’s “Let Her Go.”

To wrap up Greenwood Mic for the year, the whole audience got in on the last act. Taylor Stockwell played Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” on piano, while the lyrics were projected on the screen for everyone to sing along.

We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
