Halloweek 2025

Tihmily Li, Senior Officer, Communications & Marketing
At the end of October, Greenwood comes alive with our annual Halloweek. A treasured, time-honoured tradition at Greenwood, the week leading up to Halloween is filled with fun, Halloween-related activities. Students and staff can participate in activities to earn House points. Halloweek culminates in the costume contest held on Halloween proper where the entire Greenwood community competes for the best costume in various categories.

To set the mood for Halloweek, volunteers from Greenwood’s parent/guardian association, the Roundtable decorated the Lodge with an impressive display on the stage. During the week, student leaders set up various activities like apple bobbing, bingo, pumpkin carving, Kick-or-Treat and even a spooky haunted hallway. Houses also competed in a week-long food drive in support of the Daily Bread Food Bank.

On Halloween, each House selected a representative for four costume contest categories. Two additional categories included Best Duo/Trio/Group costumes which were a mix of students from different Houses and Best Staff Group costumes. Here were the winners from each category:

  • Timberwolves (Ivy Clarke ‘31), Trillium (Emma Cooper ‘31) and Redwood (Neill Theunissen ‘30)

We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
