Spring Athletics Roundup - May 28, 2025

The spring athletic season is short and fast-paced! Here were the results from our Grizzlies this term.

Badminton
U14 Co-Ed Badminton
April 14: In games versus Montcrest School, the team results were:
  • Delphine Bryce ‘29 and Ayla Shultz ‘29 won the U14 Girls’ Doubles
  • Ryan Lau ‘30 won U14 Boys’ Singles
  • Nathan Li ‘30 won U14 Boys’ Singles
April 22: In games versus Crestwood Preparatory College, the team results were:
  • Kate Claydon ‘29 and Ayla O’Brien ‘29 won the U14 Girls’ Doubles
April 29: In games versus Toronto French School, the team results were:
  • Ryan Lau ‘30 and Jake Smyth ‘30 won the U14 Boys’ Doubles
Additionally, Delphine Bryce ‘29 and Ayla Shultz ‘29 (Girls’ Doubles First) made it to the Regionals on May 20. The pair came in second during the Qualifiers. At the Regionals, the pair had very close matches, but unfortunately lost both. 

Sr Co-Ed Badminton
May 14: Cameron Barry ‘25, Sebastien Bryce ‘26, Jasmine Chen ‘28, Ethan Givens ‘27, Zach Raheel ‘25, Ander Smith ‘27, Teo Tisch ‘25, Andrew Welsh ‘26 and Sunny Zhou ‘28 all competed at the qualifiers. 

May 21: Jasmine Chen ‘28 and Sunny Zhou ‘28 won at qualifiers in doubles and went to compete at the Championships. Unfortunately, the pair was unsuccessful in the Championship matches.

Track and Field
U14 Coed Track and Field
The team competed in pod meets throughout the term, where the athletes participated in all events. These are considered more like practices and do not have formal standings. The team competed in the CISAA Championships on May 21. Some notable results include:
  • Maki Blackstock ‘29 placed 5th in the U14 Boys’ 80 metre hurdles 
  • Brookie Rogers ‘29 placed 4th in the U14 high jump
  • Asher Rosenberg ‘30 placed 5th in the U13 Boys’ 80 metre hurdles
  • Alexa Rouatt ‘29 placed 5th in the U14 Girls’ 1500 metre run
Sr Coed Track and Field
This small but mighty team had several notable results from this season. 
  • Rainaa Cluett ‘28 finishing 1st in Novice girls 300 metre hurdles at the first event in the very first meet this season
  • Elle McRae ‘26 (3000 metre run) and Natalie Burkett ‘28 (400/800 metre) had some awesome performances throughout the season 
  • At CISAA Championships, Claudia Schmid ‘25 finished in the top four for all her events (800 metre, 1500 metre, 3000 metre) 
  • All four of our Grade 12 athletes qualified for Metros (competing May 27 and May 28). James Fisher Holy ‘25 for the 400 metre hurdles, Katie Watanabe ‘25 for 800 metre, Charlie Waghmare ‘25 for 1500 metre and Claudia Schmid ‘25 for 1500 metre and 3000 metre
