Welcome back, Ms. Wellnhofer!

This September we welcomed a familiar face back to Greenwood: Ms. Anne Wellnhofer. Ms. Wellnhofer first joined Greenwood when it opened in 2002 and taught here until 2020. We caught up with her to to hear what she's been up to and what drew her back to Greenwood!

1. Welcome back! What have you been up to since you were here?
Professionally, I was at The Country Day School as the Coordinator of the Middle and Senior School Outdoor Education Program. Personally, I have been downhill skiing and mountain biking a lot, and hanging out with my kids.

2. What made you want to return to Greenwood?
I love the students - I find them engaging, positive, curious, adventurous, open minded and honest. Greenwood reunions are a powerful way to be reminded of the impact of what we do. I also love my coworkers; they are an inspiring and innovative group who are always striving to be better. I love teaching here; we are always improving, pushing our comfort zones, trying to connect our classrooms with the larger world, and focused on the growth of the whole child.

3. Do you have a fun Greenwood memory you like to share? If so, what?
The first day the school opened. It was still very much a construction zone, but it was so exciting to have students in the building and begin the school we had been planning.

4. How do you feel about being back!
So happy!! It feels familiar and like a new chapter all at the same time.

5. Anything you'd like to add?
Go Grizzlies, Go!

We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
