Is it just me or does February feel like a long month, even though it’s the shortest of them all?
Maybe it’s the mounds of snow. Or the grey skies. Or that Spring days still feel just a little too far away.
In February, I like to take time to appreciate the people and places that stand out in my life.
In assembly last week, I shared a wonderful word that I have always loved: apricity. The warmth of the sun in the winter. We were lucky enough to feel apricity this past weekend, and on our OE trips at the end of January. It’s a feeling that I love and I’m grateful for. The days are getting longer and lighter, too.
And, as February winds down this week, we have so much to look forward to – Spirit Week next week, our annual Lip Sync competition, and of course, March Break for a chance to unwind and reset before the always busy Spring Term.
I hope you can find something to appreciate and look forward to this week.
We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
