Be True To Your School: Term 2

Allan Hardy, Principal
As the second terms draws to a close, it is a perfect opportunity to reflect on all that we have accomplished this term and acknowledge the extraordinary contributions of students and staff.

Congratulations to the cast and crew of Noises Off. They put together an excellent production. Many of our sports teams had successful seasons. The U20 Boys Hockey team won in their division, and the Girls Snowboarding team gave a strong performance at OFSAA. A special mention to those teams that compete away from Greenwood, like the Swim team, who up early two mornings a week to practice before school. This dedication paid off, as they did well at CISAA and OFSAA.

Congratulations as well to our Kid’s Lit Club who placed in the top 10 at the Toronto Competition, and to our Visual Arts classes for decorating our hallways with their work.

The student council has contributed great spirit building events like the Spelling Bee and House Family Feud, and have been led ably by our Head Boy and Girl, Liam Wilson and Liv Kalles, whose dedication to the front door greeting has not gone unnoticed.

We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and as settlers, we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
