Leaving Class Ceremony 2018

Erin Taylor, Communications Officer
After a great morning for Celebration Day, the Class of 2018 and their guests returned to the Metro Toronto Convention Centre’s John Bassett Theatre for the Leaving Class Ceremony. Each grad’s journey at Greenwood was spoken about by a teacher and offered a great opportunity to reflect on what had been accomplished. It was also wonderful to get a sense of the many different paths our grads are taking after Greenwood.

A number of final awards were given, and we heard an excellent Valedictory Address by Laura Gordon-Mitchell, who imparted life lessons using the metaphor of practicing as an artist, a skill she has developed throughout her high school career. A number of grads also gave their final performances as Greenwood musicians.

The Class of 2018 have been strong leaders and have truly left a lasting legacy on the Greenwood community. Though we are sad to see them go, we look forward to seeing what they accomplish next!

We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and as settlers, we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
