Making Connections

Kate Raven, Communications Manager
The goal of this event was to help alumni to make connections that will help them to advance their careers, and to renew existing connections with fellow graduates. Over 40 attendees from a broad range of grad years had the opportunity to hear from three incredible panellists who are members of the Greenwood community:
  • Wendy Chong, Principal at Elevate Your Presence
  • Susan Rimmer, Managing Director & Head, Global Corporate & Investment Banking at CIBC Capital Markets
  • Reed Trimble, Vice President, Partnerships at Bad Moon Talent
Wendy, Susan and Reed shared their journeys to their current careers, the characteristics that they feel are key to success in their industries and the advice they have for those just starting in their careers or looking to switch fields. There were important takeaways for everyone, no matter their field; for example, Susan shared that one of the most important traits she looks for in prospective employees is the ability to work well on teams. “You can teach skills,” she said. “You can’t teach fit.”

Following the panel, attendees has an opportunity to chat with fellow attendees to make connections and find out more about each other’s paths post-Greenwood.

The event was hosted at Broken Cage Gallery, an art gallery and event space owned by Eric McKinnon ‘06. The gallery is currently hosting “The Power of Colour”, an exhibition by visual artist Troy Smith.

Thank you to everyone who joined us!

We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and as settlers, we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
