Greenwood Takes Part in CIS Ontario’s Annual Music Festival

Tihmily Li, Communications Officer
For almost 40 years, the Conference of Independent Schools (CIS) Ontario has held an annual music festival to showcase the musical and vocal talents of participating CIS Ontario schools. This year, the CIS Ontario’s Music Festival featured over 1,400 students and educators from 39 participating schools around the Ontario region. Performers from each participating school rehearsed together on numerous occasions to perfect their pieces.

On April 13, the audience filled up Roy Thomson Hall to watch the choir and orchestral performances. Representing Greenwood were Evan Edgell ‘24, Mel Edgell ‘25, Henry Farr ‘25 and Ms. Newman. Evan ‘24 and Mel ‘25 sang with the choir performance while Ms. Newman conducted. Henry ‘25 played the trumpet as part of the orchestra.

Well done to Evan ‘24, Mel ‘25, Henry ‘25 and Ms. Newman for taking part and representing Greenwood at the CIS Ontario Music Festival!

We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and as settlers, we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
