While a major snowstorm took aim at the senior play, ART, which was originally set for January 14-16 in the Greenwood Theatre, a nimble team and flexible audience mounted a double-header Friday night to the delight of audiences.
ART, written by Greenwood teacher Doug Robert Brown, is a sharp, laugh-out-loud farce follows a suburban family whose perfectly ordinary afternoon unravels the moment there's an unexpected knock at the door. Last week’s run marked the show’s world premiere.
For senior drama student Abby Weston ‘26, ART marked an amazing step in her theatre journey. After the show’s final curtain, Abby – who played mom Sue – shares her reflection:

“Being in the cast of ART was one of the greatest pleasures of my life. The opportunity to have a role in an original show is a rare and wonderful occurrence. Mr. Brown wrote such a hilarious show and I am so glad that he is continuing to share the products of his creative mind with the world.
Mr. Brown and Ms. Scott as a directing duo is such a joy to work with. Their constructive and encouraging feedback helps to grow each actor’s confidence every time they give it. They are so passionate about the success of every show they direct, and that shone through even more during this particular production.
This could not have been a better final Senior Play. I have such a bond with every cast member, and it saddens me that I won’t work with some of them again. I have aspirations to become an actor professionally, and my skills and confidence have grown so much since the day we did that read-through. I will treasure the memories I have made these past few months forever, and I can’t wait for ART to be winning all the awards!”
Congratulations to all those involved in ART both on stage and behind the scenes:
