Alex Budman ('09) Excels in Film & Television Career
Andrea McGavin
Soon after earning a Bachelor of Arts from St. Andrews University in Scotland, Alex moved to the cultural hub of New York City. While in graduate school in New York, she was hired by the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. She currently works on the Tonight Show’s remote production team in casting, helping to produce the show’s digital shorts.
Alex is also finishing an MFA in Social Documentary Film at the School of Visual Arts and is interested in continuing to work in documentary filmmaking. Her thesis, a film called Hapus (the Welsh word for happiness or wisdom), is a collection of stories focused on how various people, from a bubble magician to Holocaust survivors, find ways to live with happiness in the face of extraordinary challenges.
Despite her exciting life in film and television, Alex still keeps in touch with her Greenwood roots. “Every year during the holidays, I meet up with some Greenwood friends at an annual brunch,” she says. “I love my friends from [Greenwood] and occasionally see some of them in New York.”

We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
