Winter Athletics Roundup - February 25, 2026

The winter athletic season is drawing to a close with CISAA Championships and OFSAA happening this week. Here are the latest updates from our winter Grizzlies before the spring season starts!

Please excuse any missing OFSAA and CISAA updates as they were not yet available at press time.

Alpine Skiing
U14/Sr Co-Ed Skiing

Congratulations to our Open Girls team for winning the Championship race and the CISAA season championship! Shoutout to Olivia Wellman ‘26, RK Ferrier ‘26, Sarah Shields ‘26 and Olive Holt ‘26 for finishing in the top 10 for the season. 
 
Our Open Girls and Open Boys teams represented Greenwood at OFSAA this week. 
 
Congrats to our top finishers Olivia Wellman ‘26 who was 9th in the Giant Slalom race and Riley Wellman ‘28 who was 10th in the Slalom
 
Our Open Girls Team celebrates two podium finishes: a 2nd in the Slalom and 3rd in the Giant Slalom (podium for both races is very impressive!!)
Our Open Boys Team placed 6th in the Slalom and 7th in the Giant Slalom
 
 
Feb. 11: The teams completed at Craigleith. The notable results for the teams:
  • Open* Girls’ team:  Riley Wellman ‘28, Olivia Wellman ‘26 took 2nd and 4th places respectively. Adding to Greenwood’s dominance on the slopes were RK Ferrier ‘26, Quinn Ferrier ‘28, Sarah Shields ‘26, and Olive Holt ‘26 who finished in 6th, 7th, 9th and 10th place respectively.
  • Open Boys’ team: Tommy Kelk ‘28 finished in 7rd place, and Noah Henderson ‘29 and Baron Gidney ‘29 finished 24th and 25th.
  • For the School-trained Boys’ team, Henry Hogarth-Rosmus ‘27 was the highest scoring skier in 24th place.
* Open refers to athletes who have experience competing outside of school sports and teams. School-trained refers to athletes who have only competed with the school team.

Basketball

U13 Boys’ DII
  • Feb 3: Won 51-40 against Hillfield Strathallan College
  • Feb 10: Lost 33-25 to Kingsway College School
  • The team competes against Holy Trinity School on Feb 26 during the CISAA Championship playoffs

U14 Boys’ DII
  • Feb 3: Lost 64-56 to Hillfield Strathallan College
  • Feb 5: Won 65-50 against St. Michael’s College
  • Feb 9: Won 63-35 against Country Day School
  • Feb 10: Won 66-56 against Holy Trinity School
  • Feb 19: Won 53-42 against St. Michael’s College to advance to the CISAA Playoffs
  • Feb 24: Greenwood plays against Ridley College in the CISAA semi-finals, score not yet available on CISAA’s website.

Jr Boys’ DIB
  • Feb 4: Lost 66-31 to St. Michael’s College
  • Feb 6: Lost 66-55 to The York School

Jr Boys’ DIII
  • Feb 2: Won 40-39 against Toronto French School
  • Feb 9: Lost 49-42 to Hillfield Strathallan College
  • Feb 10: Won 44-29 against Albert College
  • Feb 19: Won 51-15 against Lauremont School

Sr Boys’ DIB
  • Feb 4: Lost 59-35 to Trinity College School
  • Feb 9: Won 50-32 against Ridley College
  • Feb 11: Won 44-40 against Ridley College
  • Feb 23: Despite tremendous effort and home crowd support, the team lost 57-53 to Ridley College in the CISAA Championship semi-finals. 

Curling
U14 Co-Ed Learn-to-Curl Program
  • The team competed in a bonspiel on February 3. At the U14 level, the bonspiels are friendlies and scores are not recorded.

Sr Co-Ed DII
  • Feb 2: Won 10-9 against St. Michael’s College
  • Feb 4: Won 5-4 against Havergal College
  • Feb 9: Won 11-5 against Lauremont School
  • Feb 23: Won 8-2 against Lauremont School in the CISAA Championship Playoffs.
  • Feb 25: Final Championship game against The York School. Score not yet available on CISAA’s website.

Hockey
U14 Boys’ DII
  • Feb 3: Tied 1-1 with Royal St. George’s College
  • Feb 10: Lost 8-1 to Sterling Hall School
  • Feb 11: Lost 3-0 to Nichols School

Sr Boys’ DINC
  • Feb 2: Tied 2-2 with Upper Canada College
  • Feb 11: Won 2-1 against Ridley College
  • The team will compete against Royal St. George’s College on February 25 for the CISAA Championship Playoffs. Score not yet available on CISAA’s website.

Sr Girls’ Hockey DII
  • Feb 2: Lost 6-3 to Country Day School
  • Feb 4: Lost 4-3 to Holy Name of Mary College School
  • Feb 11: Lost 10-3 to St. Anne’s School

Snowboarding
U14/Sr Co-Ed Snowboarding
The team competed on February 4 at Craigleith, here were their notable results:
  • Greenwood’s Girls’ team and Boys’ team both ranked first overall at the meet
  • In the U14 Division, Bianca Kurtin ‘31 ranked 1st in the Girls’ Giant Slalom race while for the Boys’ Giant Slalom race, Rohan Shah ‘30 placed 3rd, Mattias Westin ‘31 placed 4th, Henry Rothman ‘31 placed 5th and Van Stevens ‘31 placed 7th.
  • In the U16 Boys’ Giant Slalom race, Maki Blackstock ‘29 placed 3rd, Elliot Veneziano ‘29 placed 4th, Alexander O’Dwyer ‘29 placed 8th, Simon Pestrin ‘28 placed 9th, Lukas Nastos ‘29 placed 11th and Leo Hynes ‘29 placed 13th. 
  • In the U20 Girls’ Division, Samantha Jaskolka ‘26 ranked 1st and Kasey Codilla ‘27 ranked 6th in the Giant Slalom race.
  • In the U20 Boys’ Division, Nate Lamb ‘27 ranked 1st, Nicholas O’Dwyer ‘26 ranked 2nd and Baz Bryce ‘26 ranked 8th in the Giant Slalom race.

The team also competed at the CISAA Championships at Devil’s Glen, with the team now advancing to OFSAA.
  • The Girls’ Team won gold in Giant Slalom at the CISAA Championships with Samantha Jaskolka ‘26 and Bianca Kurtin ‘31 winning gold in their respective U20 and U14 Giant Slalom races.
  • The Boys’ Team won silver in Giant Slalom at the CISAA Championships.
  • In Slopestyle races, Bianca Kurtin ‘31 and Samantha Jaskolka ‘26 again win gold in their respective U14 Girls and U20 Girls categories while Maki Blackstock ‘29 won silver in the U16 Boys category.

Swimming
